Why Support "Free Basics"

For the last couple of days, I have been hearing about the FreeBasics phenomenon and also about many people who are opposing it,without correctly understanding how this will help the masses who cannot afford these services.
So,who are the people, who are opposing this. These are the people like us who are using internet everyday.I am one of those who has learned most of the knowledge and skills from the internet.

People argue FreeBasics will only allow a limited number of websites via their services.Yes it is true that people using FreeBasics will only be allowed to access few websites but have you guys read their participation guideline which can do at https://developers.facebook.com/docs/internet-org/participation-guidelines.
Once you are at the prescribed link you will find the participation guidelines and technical guidelines. So we can say that the Facebook is doing a charity via providing free internet and paying the cost. Facebook is doing the same by providing a specific services to their clients and getting paid for it.
Some may say that it would be a conflict against net neutrality, but it's not.We should be agree to the fact that the internet should be free entity and the people should be allowed to use the internet the way they want without any restrictions.Facebook is doing one such thing to attempting to bridge the gap between people and make the world a better place.
So let me explain you the phenomenon of free basics by just a simple example:
  • Compare your Paytm wallet to FreeBasics.Let me help:by throwing money at your wallet with cashbacks(just like Facebook may throw money at FreeBasics)., Paytm gets to control your future spending (just like Facebook may get to control your internet browsing).,It also acquires users(Just like Facebook does with FreeBasics).
Opposing FreeBasics is like oppsosing poor person the right to use free education, health services and other necessities. It's like telling the government that don't provide free stuff to them because we pay taxes and they don't.
I may agree with the one who says that we should not expect such humanism from the for-profit companies. But i must say it will not be with facebook who is continously supporting it for the sake of the poor.
So the immediate issue is that
  • If a lot of people switch to free internet anf FreeBasics-then paid-subscribers can be hurt. This is mainly applicable to the metropolitan or urban area.If we think much on the other side we can say that extrapolating this Facebook can slowly take control of the internet.
Finally the solution to this can be
  • TRAI should tell the telecom providers that FreeBasics traffic should be given lesser priority than the traffic from thr paid subscribers.
